NES Game auction: $41,000 and climbing

What makes this game so rare? I thought Nintendo World Championships was the rarest and I could see why because the game it self wasnt available in retail stores just given to participants of the NCW's.

Not many were sold before Nintendo bought the rights and re-released it as World Class Track Meet.

But still... $41K+ and counting? That's more than a good sized down on a nice home.

Hmmm, won by someone with only 1 feedback. Whats the chance that the seller was shill bidding their own item for a couple of extra dollars.

I guess all those years ago I should have been hunting for games nobody played.

Anyone wanna help me search for the dump truck load of Atari ET carts. buried in the desert?

Highly doubt the buyer comes through on the purchase. Most likely it was shilled like crazy. It'd be funny if the seller shilled it and won it himself.Would not be surprised.Have fun paying that ebay seller's fee.
