NES Classic

Looks like they removed the players names from Tecmo Bowl. Guess they didn't want to pay them...lol

Worst thing about this is the short wired controller... how the hell is that going to work for most people?

its 2016 they cant have it come with a wireless controller?

Yea...and I can't find the extension cables anywhere locally. Guess I will order online.

The cord is short because they assume you want to close to the system in order to hit the reset button. Personally, I think they should have added a menu button to the controller and gone with a longer cord or even wireless.

Can't you add one of those extension cables? Like they have done for all corded systems.

Or use a button combo like SELECT + START as a console reset.

"Why don't they make a version that comes with Duck Hunt and a light gun?!?"

I'll buy one at retail, just to have it.

I'm hoping at some point someone will figure out a way to add other games to it, which will be nice. But watching that tear down video makes me think that may not happen (I was guessing it was going to be a MicroSD card, like the Walgreen Sega consoles have been).

Is this the easiest way to get a quality HDMI signal from a NES?

I have no experience with this. Of course, unless you have a CRT TV that takes HDMI (were any ever made ?) then light gun games won't work of course. So, this is great if you don't care about the light gun games.

If light gun games are important, you'll either need to use a second video output (if that is possible with that upgrade), or move to RGB output, using http://etim.net.au/nesrgb/.

I have no experience again with this, other than researching these for when I get around to digging out and hooking up a NES I picked up years ago at a yard sale. (the few NES titles I would want to play more 'regularly' I play in emulation on my Wii).

I wonder if Nintendo realizes that they could have just done a straight re-release of the OG Nintendo Entertainment System for $100 and cleaned house?

This stupid POS is a waste of money. The controllers are the ONLY thing that might be worth owning. If you have a modded Wii that plays NES games in emulation, then having them would be cool.

No TETRIS - fuck you.

If anyone is a member of their local Facebook rummage/resell pages, have a look at the comments when someone tries to sell one of these for $250/ $300+.
Everyone rips them a new one. I've seen at least 4 so far and after all the comments, they remove their listing.

Ebay is the way to go to sell huge markup items.

A standard release wouldn't really fly as well as you think, imo. Not with people having to buy cartridges all over again. Considering that with the NES mini, the price per game comes out at 2 bucks a game, there's no way carts could be produced at a price point anywhere close to that, and it's not like the majority of people who are into this still have their old carts, either. The average person, who this is marketed to, isn't going to want to screw with finding old carts at retro shops and online. Hell, most of them probably don't know or care about emulation, either.

I put this on my "wish list".... as I actually DO want one, just don't see it happening. Finances, you know. But, my wife is getting her bonus next month, so you never know.

I heard about the short controller wires.... but I'm sure there are extension cables you can get. Probably won't matter to me, as I have a small television set sitting next to my computer to play it on.
