So I picked up a Neo Geo that appears to be one of the first designs as the control panel isn't like any of the replacements I have seen available for sale would this be one of the first ones released the layout seems poor to me here are some pics inside and out. I'm thinking seen as I know a Machinest I would be better off to make a new CP based on the newer Neo Geo layout, what do you guys think.

P.S.
Also bought a bubble bobble only to discover it was a Joust cab before now I'm torn I really wanted the Bubble bobble but would like to restore the cabinet back to Joust for the JROK board I have. THinking I might make a cabinet for Bubble Bobble and restore the joust cab back to original.

w/out full pics I can not be sure but this sure does just look like a conversion. All original machines are shown on hardmvs.com

It's a conversion overlay, there were no preset positions for anything because the op could put the controls anywhere. You can see from the extra holes in your control panel that it used to be a different game at some point.

Yeah the cabinet is the full sized Neo Geo it's a monster to move not sure which is worse centipede or this for weight its damn heavy this is the cab I have http://hardmvs.com/xml/usa/usCabs.htm. Also any walk throughs on changing the battery I looked at Hardmvs.com but they only talk about raplacing the cartridge battery. At the moment mine isn't leaking or corroded but would rather take care of it now.

It is unlikely to be a dedicated Neo-Geo. Post a photo of the cabinet.

That is not the right control panel for that cabinet. Look at the front of the control panel of the cabinet you linked to... look at yours. See how far below the edges yours sits as well?

This is the best I can do at the moment if I buy anymore machines they will be laying in my bed it's starting to get crowded have to fix these and set up a nice playing enviroment the 2 in the pic play but they need a lot of work on the outside. I can take better pics if needed I was rushed and lighting conditions were terrible at the time. I'm pretty sure this is a dedicated Neo Geo but the Control panel is what seems so wrong.

Your right but the back of the cabinet and the coin door match up not sure were there other cabinets that copied the Neo-Geo design.

Upon closer inspection it looks like someone put in a smaller CP and put in the 3/4" filler pieces on side side thats the reason for 2 strips of T-molding on each side its like someone had to replace the original CP with a smaller Control Panel.

Is there any place that sells the original CP for the MV1 all I can find is for the multiple slots or would that be the same?

What you may have is a Dynamo HS-9. The split cabinet. The split dedicated MVS's had a "pillar" effect on the bottom, that this doesn't have. None of the dedicated 25 inch MVS big reds I have seen had slide out trays for the PCB. The PCB would sit on a shelf you had to reach in, through the open CP, to get to. You may have the CP that is supposed to be on that cabinet.

Edit: Are there any tags on the back? To help identify what this is?

I will try to pull it out tonight I still think its a Neo Geo cabinet that was modified as the CP is smaller than the original I believe that the slide out was added when they put in the smaller CP I will measure it when I get home as well. It appears to be 1.5" smaller than the original. I will be happy to get to the bottom of this.

It is not a dedicated Neo-Geo. Here are photos of all the US cabs: http://www.hardmvs.com/xml/usa/usCabs.htm

It does look a bit like the MVS-4-25 v2, but the v2/v3 cabs have cutouts on the front right/left corners, whereas yours is flat. Also look at the bottom front corners. Yours has a lip or something under the front plate which none of the dedicated cabs had.

I don't know what it is, but I know it's not a dedicated Neo-Geo.

I'm thinking that bottom plate was added after the fact as this thing has no feet just that wooden slab as for cabinet it looks damn close to the MVS-1-25 in the pictures other than the modified CP and base the front corners look like a protector is on them I will try to get better pics but it is damn crowded room right now at 10X10. It has 2 full sized arcades , 1 bartop arcade, 1 super gun, fridge, water cooler, 6 foot table, computer desk and a lateral filing cabinet its rather tight for space.

I pretty much pointed it out with the very first response. You just needed to look up all o the bodies on Hardmvs.com to see. It's very obvious that it's not a dedicated Neo Geo. Anyone can tell that with one look at the underside of the CP.

It's not any of the common dynamo's either. It's probably a just a knockoff clone generic cab from some cabinet builder somewhere looking to cash into arcades back in the day.

Dude it's not a fucking dedicated cabinet.

Ok here is a pic of a tag I found on the back and now I'm more confused as the company isn't listed in any archive that I can find Copright is 1988 so I have no idea who they are or what they built. Here is a pic maybe someone will reconize the name from back than.
