Got a Neotec NT500 DX in a lot buy recently. Guy said it had just been recapped. It powers up and the small control board gets its power led, I can soft power on and off, but I get no image. Just a grey box in the middle of the screen. The On screen menu wont come up either. I see a small pcb on top of the yoke with a 3 pin connector on it without a cable, does that need to have something plugged in there?

I have only tried a vga connection @ 800x600 for an image so far. I figured if the OSD wasnt coming up, chances of anything else are pretty low. If im wrong and should try another input, just let me know, just want want to run it more than necessary with a problem!

Here are some photos of what its doing.

?

Good you got the neck board shield off.
make sure you have your 12v's??

@p202 pin 7

@r2a7 10 ohm resistor

P201 needs RGB signals too.

Make sure you have the correct plugs needed for VGA or CGA etc..
take a picture of the RGB sync board.If unsure its hooked up right..

Ok,

@p202 pin 7 - 11.90VDC

@r2a7 10 ohm resistor 6.82VDC in, 5.30VDC out

P201 needs RGB signals too.
I hooked up a med res source, and had values fluctuation between 0.123 and 0.35 on all 3 signals (RGB) here.

Thanks!

Odds are your missing clock and data.
Tip: without any signal to monitor, monitor will display a colored pattern..
if thats not happening you need to check c/d check pins 8,5,6 for 5vs dc. on eeprom..
Odds are you have a loose crystal x901,,,many are not standing straight up,some of us may try to fix it without desoldering first and break it or loose good connections..that will effect micro if wrong.

Alright, I only recall seeing 1 eeprom on it, that was the one behind the ribbon cable connector going to the input board, in my photos its kindve hidden behind the blue wire.

Ill try to locate x901. By your description and the photos, id guess one of the 2 wafer board standing up in front of that eeprom.

Thanks again!

ok, on the eeprom, i get

3.423 @p5
0.065@p6
1.463@p8

Now the leg of x901 close to the center of the pcb tied to p32 of theeeprom is 2.463v

Whenever i touch the other leg, the monitor power cycles, i reflowed the solder joint and it still does it. Im going to pull it and see if the leg is damaged.

Solder in good the crystal and replace the eeprom.
Bad connections on X901 will also cause intermittent dead issues..
My voltages was measured from a working unit on eeprom
yours are all wrong.You could probably remove ic and see the same symptom
then check your voltages again..see if they come up to 5vs on ic902

ic 902 has 5.035v on pins 5, 6, and 8. Rest are 0. Ill pull the eeprom and see if anything there changes. Resets if i touch my meter to anything near x901, hats pin 33 of the eeprom or r998, even c918.

Edited - pin 6 has 5v, not pin 7
