So I am in the middle of installing my first cap kit in my neotec Nt-27e. Monitor was in bad shape before hand horizontal and vertical size were way over scanned and vertical lines were hourglass? Pincushion?
So I pulled a schematic and started going through the cap kit list. I noticed a lot of caps were missing...
DPC board missing caps on c7,c8, c10, c12. Kit did not include replacement for c19.
Neck board missing cap in c920.
Main board had a small orange thing in c203 and missing np cap in c316.

I added all missing caps according to kit list and schematic and replace orange thing with cap.

Question 1 c316 calls for a NP cap and the kit came with what I believe is a reg polarized cap, can I use it or should Oder a new one?

Question 2 should have added the missing caps? I know things can change from schematics.

Hooked everything back up and the picture is better hori and vert are better put still not perfect, pincushion? Is still shit and a few of the adjustment pots on remote board and chassis don't change anything.

Thanks in advance
Jason

There is some confusion about capacitors for Neotec monitors. Some NT-27E were mislabeled as NT2701 and vice versa. There are also two (some people say three) versions of the NT-2701 ("Full Family" and "Li-Chin" ).

Bob Roberts has a nice writeup:

If your monitor has an original non polar cap, do not replace with a polarized one.

Attached is my lists for NT 27E and NT2701 Full Family.

Thanks Ken,

Looking at those manuals I either have a 27e or a mislabeled li chin, the board layouts are not like a 2701 and the neck board was labeled 27e.

The schematic calls for a NP 22uf25v cap at c316, my board had nothing there. I figured it was the wrong cap so I didn't install it.

I'll compare your cap list to what I received and order appropriate replacements.

Thanks again, I'll keep chasing the rabbit down the hole.
