I have a NT-2501 monitor out of an NFL blitz99 that has the dreaded horizontal line across the center. I figured probably the deflection IC has gone bad. Replaced both IC's in the vertical deflection circuit and no change. After playing with the vertical size pot I can get deflection but it has to be cranked way up, and the raster lines are spread way apart. Even when it's spread I still have a decent bold line in the middle of the screen. Some of the raster lines are backwards like it's trying to wrap around. I am looking at caps or possibly vertical output transistors next. I'm sure caps wouldn't hurt anyway. I am just lost on this thing now and it's super frustrating. Can anyone help me? This monitor is for someone else, and I really need to get it finished soon. Tired of sinking my parts and money. Thanks

man im not good at this but if it was me i would do what you said and change...
"caps or possibly vertical output transistors next"
change the caps first then go from there.
maybe with me posting this, someone else will get on here and point you in the right spot.

I put it to you like this, every new game i get, the first thing i do is cap kit if i got sound... then i go from there!
thats just my thing i do here.

You should replace the caps around the ic or the
same reference Number Like If ic location is Ic301
then you replace all the caps in that area with 3XX
it will restore the vertical circuit,Is it a La7836 a common
ic used in a few raster scan circuit's.
Also another cap used for vertical B+, is scan derived voltage,
it comes from the fly, with a different Location Number.
You can also tell by the voltage it will be the same as your Vertical
supply voltage.Or check schematic.
If you replaced the Ic clean off the old heatsink paste and add new
to it. My cap kit includes Tantalum cap too,I have found them bad before
in some case's will cause picture to stretch out.
Ofcoarse if you do a cap kit it will cover the normal caps that go bad.
Good Luck!
