Hi all, I just picked up a Cruis'n World that was working before transport. Upon reaching its final destination the monitor is showing a lot of blue and has horizontal lines about an inch apart across the entire screen (see pics). I opened the back of the machine and found the remote adjustment board which had basic adjustments such as positions, brightness, contrast etc. I looked at the chassis and can see that it's been serviced before as recently as a few months ago as evidenced by the service stickers on the frame and new solder joints. Of course the guy I got it from said he's never had a problem with it in the five years he had it. Nevertheless, I have no experience repairing or adjusting these monitors. Any advice on where to start, including how to remove the chassis safely if need be, is much appreciated. Thanks

Thanks. Can't seem to locate the flyback adjustments on the chassis. I see GK, BK, RK and G Gain, B Gain and R Gain.

Wow, thank you very much! Do I turn the knobs by hand or is there a hole to adjust with screwdriver?

you should NEVER be putting your hands in there making adjustments, but use non conductive tools.

I found the focus and screen adjustments however the blue background and lines never completely go away. any tips?

Turn your screen, brightness and contrast pots down all the way. Then turn your screen pot up until you see the horizontal 'raster' lines, then turn it back down until they JUST go away, then turn your brightness and contrast back up to a comfortable level. That's the best way to adjust everything. And of course, adjust your focus as needed too. If the settings don't hold (i.e. the lines come back), then you'll need to replace the flyback. If it's still too blue, turn all the color pots on the neck board to their center positions and then adjust each one accordingly to the proper colors if having them all in the center doesn't look good.

Thanks for the adjustment procedure. I can get the lines to go away but the background is still far too blue. It's supposed to be black. The color adjustments have no effect on the blue issue. Any thoughts?

When I adjust the blue gain pot nothing happens so I assume that's the issue. Guess I need to find a replacement. Any recommendation on where to buy? Thanks!

I'd check the continuity and ohm range on it before calling it bad. If it has no reading, then it's probably cracked on one of the legs. You can usually see that. Take a close look.
