Guys,

My Neotec 27E has a super wide picture. The width control does nothing. I checked the pot - it's fine. Any ideas? Are there any other adjustments for width on that chassis?

Thanks for any guidance you can provide...
John

How's the pin cushion board look? Every one I have repaired in the past has had cap issues on that board (especially the BP cap [C19 I think]). I think there may be a couple of adjustment pots on it as well. Not sure if they'll take care of your problem though.

So you replaced the Bipolar cap (with what value)?? And was it a high-frequency cap that it expects?

I just replaced it with a 4.7uf @50V bp cap. I didn't know it needed to be HF? Does it? Will this one just blow since it isn't HF? If worked while testing for an hour...

Let me know...Thanks!
John

I have a Gauntlet Legends with the same monitor. Mine had the same notorious problem. Originally mine had a 5.6uf Bipolar cap. I was then sold one which was 4.7uf instead (I guess it is the correct replacement) and supposedly had to be High Frequency (whatever that meant) or I was told that if not, it would die sooner. I heard of High Temperature, Low ESR, Audio Grade, and other, but never High Frequency to be honest.

You should be good for a while at least.

Hmm, I don't think it fits. I beat you to it so to speak. I ordered this last month from Mouser also. Here is a picture of it attached. Also shown is the original I had removed and the replacement I was sold a few years ago (long story, I paid $70 for 2 CAPS!!)....

Ok, thanks for confirming. I do know the leads are further apart by a little bit but I have not checked if it fits on the little daughter card in the physical spot.
