I accidentally dropped the remote monitor adjustment board on the top of the coin box in my SF Rush the Rock, and of course it killed it. The monitor now just beeps.

The fuse did not blow... I was wondering if there was anything that usually happens when this happens (I would think I am not the first person this happened to) or if I am screwed because any number of things could be destroyed now.

Also before this happened, there was something else wrong...

The red in the picture does not work quite right. At first I thought the red gun in the tube was bad, but then I realized today that it is only pure red that is missing. Red shows as black, but yellow (red+green) looks normal. White/grey are perfectly normal as well. So it can't be the tube.

I already did a cap kit before the short-out disaster, and it made no difference with the red weirdness. I am wondering if now that I fried it, if I should just be looking for a replacement chassis...

Any advice would be appreciated.

I have no answer, just bumping so you can hopefully get some assistance.

Xyla is really good people. ;)

Thanks in advance, monitor geniusesses.

My 27E's remote adjustment board is inside a plastic case type of thing. Are you saying yours doesn't have that and the remote board was able to short on your coin box when you dropped it?

The plastic holder was attached to the back wall. I unclipped the board from it so I could see the controls, and the cable got caught and it yanked out of my hand as I was pulling it forward.

In retrospect maybe it wasn't very smart. In the future any time I have a game like this, I will unscrew the plastic holder from the cabinet and add velcro.

I've thought of something else to add -

I know that my remote board is quite short when fed up through the coinbox area. You say it got caught on something that caused you to drop it - is it possible the getting caught part was actually yanking out one of the two or three remote board connectors going back to your chassis? Might be worth a a check, also check each of those remote board wires and make sure they still have a connection back to the chassis.

Here's hoping to you just yanked something loose because it's still hard for me to believe what you did would toast your chassis.

i have the same problem, no red, anyone have thoughts on this? mine just went outta the blue though, worked great, turned it off, next day turned it on, no red.. its black

I don't think this is the case, because it went black right as the remote hit the coin box metal... but I will double-check. I can't do it at the moment because I moved some new games into my living room and now my SF Rush is kind of inaccessible. I will post results after I reorganize.

is it exactly the same as mine? You get yellow and white, but just not pure red?

yea i got green and blue, no red at all, the red appears black, like my checkpoint signs are just black

That sounds like your red gun is out or you are missing the red signal completely. If you have no red at all, you will have no yellow and white will look cyan.

My problem is different. I have red, just not pure red. So I get yellow (red+green) but not red.

the last couple neotecs i has that sounded like a hollywood bomb going beep, beep, beep was because the hot was shorted out so what you hear is thing powering on and then shutting off.

yep ohm between the center pin and the right pin...(looking at it with part# facing you, pins on the bottom)

theres probhably a better way, but if you have a chirper and the hot is the issue, itll be dead shorted most of the time.

I haven't had time to get back to this yet, but when I do I will check the HOT.

I did the exact same thing to my neotec remote board and had the chirping too. Replacing the HOT eventually repaired it but I had trouble finding a good supplier of the transistor. I picked them up from 2 or 3 sources and wound up with counterfeits. I ended up purchasing directly through Neotec to find a good one. Chad at arcadecup would probably be a good source for them as well.

I own three of the sf rush and the neotecs are notorious for the tubes failing. I had to restore all three of the crt's for lose of colors. Try checking all the gains on the neotecs neckboard as they may have been adjusted prior to compensate. Also, the atari cpu board's have common failures with video out. I had one cpu board that lost video output all together and another lost just the red. While looking for replacements on ebay, I found several for sale that also had video output issues.

unfortunately not off of the top of my head.. what numbers are on yours?

***make douple sure*** to get a new mica inculator and replace that at the same time. theres a good reason why im saying this heh
