Hey all!

Going to be doing my first monitor repair this weekend or next, and it's for the Neotec 2515-C in my Primal Rage cab.

Going to be replacing the flyback and putting in a cap kit. Anything I should be aware of to make my life easier or to keep in mind for safety reasons aside from the usual safe discharging of the monitor?

Haha thanks. Yeah when I looked and it had like 30 caps, I was like, "Awww...c'mon" :D

Oh well, I'll post my progress though and if I run into anything out of the ordinary. (Which I doubt, but you never know.)

Just looking forward to getting Primal Rage nice and crisp playable. :) Right now it does the old Neotec blurry the longer it's on dying flyback routine. It has some waves and lines in the picture too which the caps will probably fix as well. Either way it'll be good to get the new caps on there with the flyback.

Double check you have all the correct caps before you start, remove 1 cap at a time and replace verifying you have correct cap. Use a check list as you go, easy way to stay organized. Also consider washing and drying the chassis before starting repair work.

Ah sounds good, I'd hate to start and then realize that I didn't have the right caps or replace one and then replace it again because I wasn't paying attention. :D

At least we know its a bob roberts kit! Ive installed that same kit once before, it worked out well. The flyback is $33 on Chad's site (arcadecup.com). There is a small NP cap on there (4.7uf or something) not included in the kit. There is another cap right next to it, be careful not to screw up the np cap pulling the one next to it. Last one I did, someone kinda crushed that np cap before I got it, so I had to replace that to.

Thanks for the tip, I'll keep an eye out for that. :) Yeah I picked up the flyback earlier this week, so I just need to get a few things this weekend and I'll have it like brand new in no time. ;)
