I've had this 150-in-1 cart running on a MV2 successfully for over a year. I just pulled the MV2 and replaced it with a MV4 that I just repaired to have some extra slots. If I put the 150-in-1 in any slot, the system will not boot up and it will have garbled graphics. As soon as I pull the cart (with power on), it inits a reset and boots fine. Any ideas or tricks to get those multi carts working? I had some issues with some games causing a reset on my MVF-1 as well but at least it would start.

Clear the neo geos onboard memory. I've also had issues if a memory card is inserted(at least on my 2 slot). I will say in my experience with them the multi carts work best if they are on the only cart in the system.

Memory is clear, there was no battery installed yet, just finished repairing this unit, also tried with new battery as well. No memory cards.

The other 3 slots have games that are not present on the 150-in-1.

Don't quote me...

There are a few things I've learned from the 150 multicart.

One...bad design. If you take it apart, you'll notice stacked cards. Two go to together with several pins on two ends of the boards. If these are not well seated, it will not work or have strange issues with sound, video and just not working at all. If you take it apart, just mark which side is the correct side to match your arrow up.

The reason why the pins inside come apart has to do with the design of the entire thing. The connector that goes into the MVS board will cause the board to flex which slowly causes the pins to pull apart. I just started using the card without the case. The case also is slightly limited on how far it can be seated. I think this is a potential issue as well.

Last thing...This multicart requires more power than a standard cartridge. See if the cart works on it's own without any other cart in the other slots. Use slot 1 to begin with and walk down the slots until it works. The voltage draw may not be "as designed" but more of an issue with cheap / lazy / ignorance. The fact that they have a million extra plus / super plus / extra cool games seems pointless.

The cart overall is cool as long as its working. :)

Hopefully that helps you.

I just found the pin connection issue last night, so it's fresh in my mind!

Thanks- this all makes perfect sense. I have seated carts before out of cases and got similar results when they didn't line up. 2 pins shorting causing the whole thing to not work etc etc. I'll try without the case and see how it goes.

But funny you should mention voltage draw- my power supply in the cabinet started failing the very day I installed this MV4 in place of the MV2. I checked the output and it was starting off good and played fine for a few mins but then it starts going down to 4.7v which will cause most TTL chips to start failing. I'll end up tossing the MV4 back on my test rig and trying the 150-in-1 cart again to see if it still fails, I'm willing to bet its a combination of the cart being junky and the failing supply in the cabinet.
