I have a 2 slot neo geo that has some serious RAM issues, and I need it repaired. Do any of you do these, or recommend someone who does?
Jayme.

You can check the sticky in this thread for people that repair items here ("Who Repairs What"). First page shows that "channelmanic" repairs MVS/AES systems.

It will, of course, cost some money for time and materials, but he does know his stuff (as can be seen by his multitude of threads on repairing boards).

You will need to PM him to see what his schedule is like, though. He may be slammed at the moment.

I need someone else who works on these. He is obviously very capable, but is unwilling to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.

Hate to say it, but as cheap as MVS boards typically are, it is usually easier to purchase a working board rather than diagnose and fix more difficult problems such as ram errors and the like. I would just say keep the board around for parts, or sell on the board as non-working and get a working board.

It will be cheaper than hiring someone to diagnose a painful issue.

Are you joking, only 1 slots even come close to being considered cheap. Ram failures on mvs boards are the most common and easist to fix fault and is surely worth the time and effort to repair.

I agree, and channelmanic's prices are very reasonable. He was just very busy. It's all handled now.

I'm slowly taking on more work... I have the last of the Galaga boards for RLEVIN about done which leaves me with still a big backlog of tradeouts for repair, but I can still squeeze an MVS in.

i see quite a few multislot boards going for the low to sub 100$ range. the statement was coming from someone who doesn't have the skill/experience/tools to repair their own board may easily pay more to have someone else look at it. granted, having someone who is experienced looking at it usually means you end up with a better board as most boards seem to have some issue or another.

I rarely ever have a Neo Geo repair go over $50 plus shipping. This includes RAM, audio circuit issues, cap kits, etc... Rechargeable batteries, connectors, and volume controls are the only things that push it over that mark... A coin cell replacement battery added to a repair still keeps it right under $50 plus shipping.

That's for a 1, 2, 4, or 6 slot repair.
