Neo Geo WG 25K7191 Problems

TP5 = 4.65

I reflowed a lifted pad for one of the fly back pins. I also reflowed C51. I now have a larger picture but still cannot fill the screen using the remote board pots. I can adjust the picture using the pots just not enough.

50/60 started working and now have a full picture but it is turned all the way left. Horizontal width is off. The graphics do not look good, maybe a board issue?

Glad you found the lifted trace on the flyback. I was thinking it was a bad new flyback because everything started after replacing it (besides the popping). Do you have a signal generator to test or maybe another game board?

that's a game issue. I would lean towards dirty cartridge/slot, but I also don't claim to be an expert with Neo Geo.

you need to white balance. start by turning Brightness down, you want that blue mess to look black. chances are the brightness pot alone won't have enough range, so you may need to gradually turn the Screen down on the flyback also. if you look at the pots on the neckboard viewing from behind the tube they'll go Red Drive, Red Cutoff, Green Drive, Green Cutoff, Blue Drive, Blue Cutoff. ignore the Drive pots, turn each of the red/green/blue pots up until the black background tints to that color. then turn them back down until it's black again. it's a very routine process for me because I've done it so many times, so you may need to be patient with the process.

Agree, the new graphic issue is board/cart. Most likely dirty cart edge. Clean it up with IPA, and deoxit. I had a cart that resisted all erasers and other stuff. Deoxit saved it.

lol yeah I tried erasers and then I escalated to Simple Green baths. like I took the cartridge slot boards and washed them too. then everything worked reliably after. it was rad

In post #12, I thought the OP said that the game board(s) were working...meaning this whole thing was just a monitor problem after capkit/flyback.

I've provided enough instruction. unfortunately I can't be there to just do it.

Been on vacation. Board was working but stopped. Pulled the board and started testing and found five iffy traces (minor corrosion under a strong microscope) and repaired them. Game is playing great and looks really good. Thanks for all the help.

Replaced all the remote board pots with new pots and game is now fully adjustable. Thanks
