Gentlemen,
I tried to get as much as possible in the title to seperate it from the other posts on here regarding neo geo sound issues. I have read everyone else's posts on neo geo sound issues, but this one is different. Sometimes (actually virtually everytime I try it) I loose sound when I am cycling through the games (this is a 4 slot).
As a typical example, I turn the machine on when all four slots are populated. Slot 1 will work fine, 2 will work fine, but once I get to slot 3 (or sometimes 2, or sometimes 4), there is no sound. Once this phenomenon occurs, the sound is gone for all slots. If I turn it off and turn it back on, the sound is back. Maybe this time I get through all of the games with no problems, but the next time I turn the game on, this problem will occur again. The sound caps had been replaced already when I got it. It does not matter what games are in it, or what slot they are in. Please lend me your knowledge. Thanks in advance.

Common problem.

Clean the slots.

Fold over some stiff poster board a couple of times until it's as thick as a cartridge pc board, put some alcohol on it, and insert/remove it from the slots multiple times.

Clean the carts.

Take them apart and scrub the edge connectors (top and bottom) very well with a big pink pencil eraser. Clean off all the eraser dust then reassemble.

I was hoping you would reply channelmanic. Thanks for the help.

Channel was right on. All four slots work beautifully now. Thank you for the help, and I recommend anyone with this problem doing exactly as I was told.

Happy to help where I can :D

I do a LOT of Neo Geo board repairs for folks... I've seen the issue more than a few times.
