Just wondered if I could get a couple opinions. I found a couple 4 slot neos in the dump. The cabs are not salvagable, but I do want to rebuild one. What i would like to know is if 5/8 plywood would be sturdy enough with proper bracing. I would like to keep the weight down. Any other suggestions would be welcome.

Yes, it should be. Though I would rather go with 3/4 like the original. Any reason to go smaller other than weight?

It's probably OK, but make sure you brace well at all the joints. Should be fine, but it won't stand up to as much rough handling as a cab made from 3/4" plywood. On the other hand, it's not MDF, so in a lot of ways it's going to be better.

You might want to spring for 3/4" for the bottom board - that's got to take the full weight, so it might be worth making that heavier.

Let us know how it goes!
