I have a 4 slot neo geo and have a few questions. Do I have to have a cart in all 4 slots for it to work? How much do the labels affect the value of the carts? All 4 of my carts have the name stickers and the silver shinny 90 day warranty sticker on all of them. Is there a trick to take the labels off and not destroy them so I can reuse them? I want to take them apart to clean then so see if this is why the cab is not working. I have 2020 super baseball, art of fighting, world of heroes and king of the monsters 2. Are these not really that big of a deal and not really matter if the labels are there or not? Is there somewhere I can but new labels? My game powers on and goes throught the test screens but will not play any games. I have been told it is not reading the games that is why I want to take them apart and clean them before I send the baords out for repair. This cab was sitting in a barn for about 9 years so I am hoping all I need to do is clean the carts.

Pull the carts and clean em. You can test one cart at a time if you like, the system will still start with less than 4 carts in. Sounds like they're just loose in their sockets though.

They were loose and I pusked them back in but still nothing. What is the best way to clean them? Will a q-tip and alcohol work? Someone told me to use a eraser but I would have to take them apart to do that.

Also one of my joysticks do not work right. Can I just replace the micro switches, if so what ones would you guys suggest? Or is there a rebuild kit for the joysticks? What joysticks are they? This a 4 slot cab. Also the buttons seem to stick if I tighten the nut on them, I loosened it on a couple and they started to not stick. Is this normal or should I replace them?

Don't over tighten the bolts holding the sticks in place. If one switch isn't working, you can replace just the one. Can you show us pics of your cab, inside an out?

Also, this should probably be moved to the repair section of the board...

yeah those sticks are held in place by pressed studs so if you tighten it too much then you'll just pull them through the panel.

If you buttons are crusty you can take them apart and clean them in warm soapy water. I usually spray the springs lightly w/ WD40 when I put them back in.

If you want a whole complete set of button tops w/ nuts let me know. I have a large inventory of just the button tops w/ no micro switch.

I've seen Neo Geos stock with Happ Supers or Ultimates.

The joysticks are not what is to tight it is the buttons. I think the joysticks just have bad switches, it the test screen one of them does not register up or down.

I just tried claening one of my carts, the Q-tip came back clean, and the game still will not bot. After reading about the battery issues I think I am going to send the board in and have it checked out by someone who know what they are doing.
