Its one of those again a neo geo post. One of my favorite arcade cabs/system

Well i picked up a neo geo today and have been happy but sad at the same time. I like that i have another one since i regretted selling my old 4 slot one. But on the other hand am sad because my old 4 slot was in better condition than this one.

This one has pretty bad water damage and its splitting apart from the bottom. The cab is also painted with a different red that is more pinkish underneath this sticker wrap that goes around the whole system even the front.

Ive never seen this before but the wrap is the same color red as the MVS and is printed with the neo geo decals + AE after neo geo which I've never seen anything like this before.

The front also has the wrap ad has neo geo on the bottom this sticker is peeling off from the corners and the front. Sill debating if i want to peel it off completely, sand, and repaint the cab but the ting is i gave my old pint of Neo red away to the guys that bought my 4 slot a couple of months back.

inside was a Blue Elf 2 jamma cart which i was happy to find even though it did not have the MVS 2 slot. I was wanted to buy those multi cart for the Neo geo and finding this saved me some $$$. I had heard the blue elfs where some of the best multi carts.

The Cab is missing all these parts

LED coin screens

original smoked glass

EL light panels (which i was going to remove anyway)

and the MVS system.

other than that the screen is burn free which is great. The vertical size pot is not responding so i don't know what to do or how to fix it.

screen was flashing in game thats why its white. Still need to adjust the color and brightness.

The power switcher and transformer where both dead when i got the machine but replaced them with a couple of spares from old machines and got the non working cab working.
Still have to wire the speakers up as only one sounds due to being jamma.

Luckily i bought by chance a MVS 2 slot board and samurai showdown for $25 last week when i went to check out another neo geo that turned out to be a conversion.

now i dont know if i should fully restore it to a MVS 2 slot or leave the blue elf in there. Is there a jamma to mvs converter or something along those lines as i do not want to rewire the whole cab. Another thing i have to do is fix the water damage and the splitting of the cabinet before it get worse. The only thing stoping me is the decision to take the sticker wrap off completely strip and fix the cab and repaint it.

more pic of the progress on the machine soon.

Blue elfs are not one of the best carts there are. Probably one of the worsts. If you can't tell that it's running at 1/2 framerate then you're all good.
Your monitor looks quite washed out and it may need a combination of caps maybe a flyback and a Rejuv depending on what's wrong.

I would go with a single slot and one of the multi carts ... I have a pair I was going to list FS.

the pic with the monitor was when the game was flashing white and i happened to take a pic of it. it looks better than that you can see part of it on the pic showing the marquee.

after i posted it i noticed that i was thinking of one of the csp or cps (duno what the capcom ones are called) fighting boards the multi ones not blue elf :/ it plays fine at least the games I've played so far. Yeah i am going to convert it back to a neo geo instead and try finding a dynamo cab to stick the blue elf in instead as i want to play marvel vs capcom and a couple of other 6 button fighters but don't want to drill holes into the CP
