So I bought this 2 slot Neo Geo yesterday. Tested, worked the last time I saw it a few months ago, minus the marquee. I assume it just needs a new bulb. Drove it home yesterday, got into the house today, Kablow today nothing.

So I went in. Some of the wireharness was hacked, which I already knew. Reconnected the obvious disconnected pin connector. Was able to get power to the Control pannel, but still nothing to the Marquee or the Monitor. Now what I can figure, after doing some reading. The Neo Geo Power supply has a 3 pin, 4 pin and 9 pin connectors. The Power supply is total missing the 4 pin. The 3 pin is hacked, and the 9 pin is intact.

So should I just go and get a new power supply and save the headach. http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Power-S...630?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2573b3596e

Or, should I take the time and figure out where the 3 pin hacked goes. Still leaves me with trying to figure out what to do with the 4 pin connector. I just don't understand how it could have worked. I can only assume the power supply was switched. But thats paranoid.....

Any suggestions are welcome.

It would be better for us to see what PS is in the cab, do you have any pics?, also 3 and 4 pins connectors? I suspect the 4 pin conn is for an external power switch, but if you say its hacked, this might be out of use, who knows?, although check first if there is a general power switch in the cab, usually in the roof of the cab, and follow the wires to see if you have it disconnected and this would be the missing 4 pins connector...

Yeah, this power supply is totally missing the 4 pin. The 4 pin goes to the front power switch. This power supply has a built in switch. No worries with the 9 pin, its all hocked up. But the 3 pin that goes to the Isolation transformer thats where all the hacking is.

Hope these pictures are better.

Ok that 3 pin is 110v between black and white, and ground to the green, what I can see is the two black wires of transformer goes to black and white, so you should connect them to the corresponding in the other side of the plug (black changes to White/red and black to white) The third cable(black/red) is in the green cable of the PS side, so it goes to ground. What I can figure out is that cables should have been inserted loosen into the pins of the 2 black cable transformer´s pins, and the ground (black/red) screwed somewhere. I think you should discard the 2 pins of the transformer and solder the cables directly, as in case you need unplug this connection, it can be done trhough the PS 3 pin... hope you could understand, my english is not good... pls advise the result

OK, that worked, we now have power to the monitor.

EDIT: Played with it, the RGB is working. I think the interference maybe coming from the

Just a thought, but is the other power connector for the marquee selector? On my MVS-6 Candy cabinet, the marquee for the game you've selected lights up, and the lit one moves as you cycle through the carts. It has a power connector wire bundle that goes all the way down to the switcher.

Ok, as for the video, there´s a problem with blue in that monitor, check Blue cathode driver transistor in the neck pcb of monitor, there might be bad pin solder or short circuit in the tr. If you don´t find anything in the neck board, inform the brand and model of monitor so we can help you further.
PS. vido is not bad

Did not remember this. With that, it might be in my intrest to get the replacement power supply. So I know everything is hooked up. Then trouble shoot from there.

Yeah, I am not going to touch the monitor. I will wait till a friend of mine has the time to look at it. My soldering skills are still very novice. LOL, I was thinking I was going to have to drop some $$$ and get a new monitor last night. Was even thinking about going LCD.

Also ordered the a few extra`s of those chips I needed to fix the 2 Slot.

I have to give a big thanks to everyone thats posted, I would not have been able to troubleshoot through a chunk of this without your help. I will update again once I have made some more progress next week.

You won't solve the button problems with contact cleaner. Test the microswitches with a multimeter. If they're faulty then replace them, if not, you've got a wiring issue.

The volume problem is almost certainly bad caps.
