picked up a 4 slot cab recently and the sound works but it is very faint when the machine is cut on and it gets a little louder after a few minutes but never gets very loud. the volume slider is all the way up and if you move the slider you can make it go silent. the 2 headphone jacks on the cab both work and sound pretty loud through headphones with that slider turned all the way up.

anyone had a similar issue? should I consider the main sound shot and try to wire one of the headphone jacks to the speakers?

just wondering what others have done and if this is a common problem. thanks for any help.

From what I've read, on the Neo Geo boards, sound is a very common failure point. I've been researching lately, because I got a 6 slot board with no sound

channelmanic services them. Or, you can order a cap kit for the audio amp from him... but that requires soldering skills...

Thanks for the pr0pz!

It's a common issue. The Neo Geo boards are notorious for the cheap caps used in the audio section.

Installation information is in the downloads section of the site.

It's pretty easy except for the 22uf and 100uf caps which have some serious copper connections on the ground leads. It takes a LOT of heat to remove those cleanly.

I ended up wiring the headphone audio to the speakers and that seems to work fine. one weird thing is magician lord has lower volume than other games, oh well, at full blast it is loud enough and I have to turn down the volume a bit for other games.
