I just picked up a really nice MVS 4 slot arcade with 13 games. I have played it for a few hours now and some games have a little glitch to them (fuzzy markings). Is there away to clean these games? Also, I went inside and left the game on and when I came back out non of the games have sound. New to the hobby, and have no clue. Thanks for your help.

Use q-tips dipped in isopropyl alcohol to clean the contacts on the circuit boards in the cartridge. Scrub well along both sides of the board. An eraser works too, but you risk taking off the gold plating - alcohol is much safer.

To clean a cartridge slot, fold a piece of paper over to the thickness of the circuit board, and insert it into the slot and pull it out. Don't slide it side to side, you'll bend the pins.

I open up the cartridges and use a pink pencil eraser on the contacts. Sometimes Q-Tips just can't clean them enough.

I've never had an issue with the gold plating on the contacts when using the pink erasers. White erasers are more abrasive and I've never used them as the pink ones work well enough.

Clean the slots... take some white posterboard and fold it over until it's as thick as a cartridge board. Wet it lightly with alcohol and insert/remove it repeatedly to clean the slot. It'll come out grimy.

this is how i clean any cart i buy before it hits my machine and if one gets a little glitchy then it get the same treatment again

Thanks, I will try this later today. Will this mess with the sound at all. Also, where can I buy the stickers for quarters and audio jack and card area. Other then those few things its in perfect condition.

Yes...

Sound program ROMs are on the cartridge. If the ROM can't be read then the sound CPU crashes.

Dirty carts can also cause the system to boot to a Z80 error.

If sound levels go up & down or are missing on one channel you probably need a cap kit on the board. If the sound just flat out dies then clean the carts/slots.

If cleaning them doesn't help the sound issue, you may have bumped the volume control, around the mother board. Also, you can get a full set of decals (player1/2 arrows, side art, front art) from Eccs, on Neo-Geo.com.
