Neo Geo MVS four slot, working and photos to prove it for sale.

Hey sorry I replied on a PM. I took the board directly out of the machine I was playing with no trouble, glad to hear you found the slider. Cleaning the contacts can help, again I only had two carts in it, so the other 2 slots are no doubt dirty. Also as I mentioned it was insured, so if we cannot get this thing figured out soon, lets goto the post office and file a claim. I know it was packed well, but how did the box look on arrival? Do it look well taken care of, or tossed around? I checked the board thoroughly, even video taped the machine working, (I do this with all machines before I sell, for keepsake memories :)

Take care and let me know

To go along with mmsada...is metal slug 2 in 1 of the slots...MS2 has a known glitch when it's place in the slot next to SSIV, RBFFS, and KOF94, and one other game....Just a heads up..
That's a bit more than I knew, but yeah; 6-slots are the worst when it comes to such issues.

i've tried every slot/game combo possible. what is the ideal voltage for a 6-slot?
Have you tried one cart at a time in each slot? Try that.
Ideal voltage should be right at 5-5.1 volts, if I recall correctly. cranking it up too high can fry the board. If you replaced another board with this one, it could be drawing more current and reading out at a lower voltage - the 6-slots are a huge power drain as compared to the others.

I missed the slider,
BUT oddly it takes a while for the volume to come up.
I let it cook for about a hour then the volume was about right, mabey a tad low, but after couple more hours more up.. Sooo, Caps need to take some charge time?
Also going to let it totaly cool down and try a new start, last start up from being off for a hour game main screen garbled at first..

so going to run it through it paces next couple of days :)
Yeah, the board probably needs to be recapped.

Generally to turn off and back on, 1-5 minutes is a good amount of time, for what it's worth.

i also had sound issues (low, cutting in and out a bit). the fix was to remove one of the orange-coated caps.

for example,

see the orange caps near the sound slider at the bottom. i'll take a pic of my board this weekend if you want although i don't know how different my 6-slot will look. it didn't make any sense to remove it, but it did work.
Replacing caps is a better way to go. You may cause yourself long-term issues by just plain removing one.

In that case, buyer may do well to put a cartridge into the previously unused slots, remove it, clean with rubbing alcohol and wipe dry, and repeat several times.

Got it.

got the pm, Yea as of now box looked ok. found the sliders..
it seems this board may just need a audio capping..
Cause thats the only issue which has stuck around.
it has to "warm up" or "burn" for about a hour or
so until volume comes up..
when i feel better today ill start it up leave it in attract mode and time it.
It does come up after a while of cooking..
I played the hell out of it yesterday :)
But i dont think there is any issue from the shipping.
box was ok and all..

My other 1 slot mobo got tweaked box wise lol. this one was ok

just remove a cap??.

Wow, that dosent sound like a great solution though, its enginered to spec.. wouldnt that throw off other voltages in the circut?

I see these caps listed and mentioned how many in a kit?
And all bigger or smaller.. Been a while since i did some soldering board level..
I don't believe it's too many. You might want to post over at the Neo-Geo forums or do a search. I've seen it posted a few times over there. It's not too many.

Man, don't remove a cap, just do the cap kit its only 5 or 6 caps, and I will send you back the few bucks. That should fix it. I want you to have a working board.
