I have an MV1C mvs board that someone cut the battery off. I've seen some instructions about doing a mod to remove the charging circuit on jamma nation x. He installed a normal coin cel with a holder. I'm wondering if it would be ok if I just used a AA battery holder with two AAs in series. Would this cause any issues after doing the mod?

3v is 3v. The problem is mounting AAs and their penchant for leaking. Battery corrosion damage will travel down wires under the insulation to the board.

YMMV, but I'd use a coin cell.

Also, the AAs have a MUCH higher current capacity so you have to take greater care to not short them out.

I'm going to remote mount the batteries on the cabinet so I mount have to worry about leaking. Thanks for the response!

The main reason I want to use this is because I already have it.

Edit: wait you're saying the corrosion will travel down the wires? That's pretty crazy. I'll keep an eye on it.

Yes, it will travel down under the insulation.

Change the batteries 2x a year when you change your smoke detector batteries.
