Neo Geo MV-1 quiet left audio (or loud right audio?)
The facts:
1.) Neo Geo cab with no audio pins connected on the female JAMMA connector.
2.) Audio is coming straight off the MV-1 4-pin speaker header to the speakers
When I received it, the audio switch on the board was set to mono. Looking at the MV-1 service manual, it showed if you're doing mono you go through the JAMMA connector, and if you're doing stereo you go through the 4-pin header on the MV-1. I was curious why this cab had an "improper" configuration
I switched it to stereo, when I did the left audio channel is much quieter than the right audio channel. I measured the voltage coming straight off the 4-pin header and the voltage on left audio was roughly only 25% of the audio on the right speaker. I'm actually not entirely sure if the problem is left audio being too quiet, or right audio being too loud.
Later when troubleshooting I noticed when set to stereo, the right audio seems to be very high volume relative to how far the volume slider is up (though I have no previous experience to just the frame of reference). When I set the audio switch to mono (still using the 4 pin header), the sound only comes from the right speaker and sounds to me like the same volume level of the left speaker when in stereo mode.
Any suggestions? One person on the neo-geo.com forums suggested fader lube on the volume slider before the thread mysteriously disappeared. I didn't know how necessary that is since my volume slider isn't dirty and slides with ease.
