Basically, I got a MV-1 board, and it appears to have 2 controller ports on the side of it (this is the jamma Neo-Geo). Now, I was curious if anybody knew anything about these controller ports. I have the manual, and I looked through and it did not say anything about the controller ports over-riding anything from the Jamma harness, but I figured I would ask to be sure. Because of space issues, I was going to consolize this board. I don't think it would be that difficult to do (especially if I can just straight up plug controllers into the board).

Anybody know anything about the controller ports on a MV-1?

If it takes controllers, is it just AES controllers that I can pick up for $40 or $50 from eBay?

I think they're for AES controllers but don't quote me on that. They certainly look like an AES controller plug would fit in there. Interestingly enough, ALL the MVS mainboards have them -- even the gargantuan MV-6, MV-4 and variants.

Yes both of you are right, I plugged my aes controllers in my 4 slot mvs and they work perfectly. That's why the neo is such a bad ass system.

Thank you sir. That makes consolizing this super easy now since all I need is a video/sound conversion and power (I am guessing I can find tons of tutorials online about it)

MV1????

If it's the big one, you can take the sound right off the headphone connector. Use an old audio cable from a CD-Rom drive.

They thought of damn near everything a gamer would want, even adding features that would make the hardware useful for consumers when ops had long given up/moved on to newer stuff.

I thought of another question since I want to be sure before I buy controllers.

Does it need to be an aes controller like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEO-GEO-MAX...579?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45fed9f9eb

or can I get controllers like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEO-GEO-CON...320?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45feed1b58

or even this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SNK-NEO-GEO...573?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2569c5e7d5

Basically, are the controllers cross compatible (aes, cd), or do I need to make sure it is a full on aes controller?

I just want to be on the safe side and not get a Neo CD controller if it will not work or has different pins. It would be nice to save a few bucks on the controllers since it appears that the Neo CD controllers are cheaper, but if I need full on AES controllers, I will go that route if need be.

I just want to be sure before I start buying controllers

EDIT:

I somehow missed this. This is very awesome. I did not even think about jacking into the headphone stuff on the board.

Yes, it is the big one.

That means video and I am good.

If there is an easy way to do that, I won't be surprised, but I am also prepared to get my hands dirty to get the video going
