I picked this little bad boy up yesterday and it had SF2CE in it but the control panel and inside guts where a mess. 13" monitor looks amazing, but the PCB has no sound coming from it and the cabinet needs alot of love to get it looking pretty. I'll post some pics when i'm done with it.

having an issue trying to figure out if this is a jamma connector or a Neo Geo connector. I'd assume its a neo geo one since the SF2CE board that came in the game has no sound. I've heard that the sound will burn up if the neo harness is used without the MVs-jamma adapter. See if you guys can tell which this is:

Man that is bad ass. I love those little Neo-Geo cabs. I had the larger MVS-2 cab and it was one of my favorite modern cabs. Good luck with your restore.

Looks like MVS to me. I've never seen a Jamma connector with screw holes on the ends.

From my understanding, it's not plugging a JAMMA in to the MVS harness that will damage the audio, but plugging MVS in to JAMMA that damages the audio amp on the MVS boards.

I'm looking forward to the updats in this thread. I have a Neo Geo Mini, so if you need to know anything I can check mine.

Very cool cab. I saw one of these for the first time in person at Disneyland a few months ago. It had a two-slot neo in it.

Good luck on the restore. It also may be possible that the sound on the SFII board is just dead. I have a lot of Capcom CPS1 boards and several of them had no sound because of bad A-boards.

i'm going to try and figure out if this is an mvs or jamma harness 1st before i plug any more boards in the cab. I am getting ready to order some art and buttons and joysticks. I'll post some pics as I progress. Thanks for the kind words.
Chris

Not the case. Plugging a Jamma PCB in an MVS PCB will burn out the sound amp because of the ground. MVS PCB's are stereo and use the common ground while Jamma PCB's have negative and positive positions on the harness and do not use the common ground. An easy way to see if it's MVS is to follow the wires coming from the speakers if one of the two wires on both speakers is black and gpes to the common ground position then it's wired for MVS.

Jamma vs MVS Pinout comparison.

Yes, R3LL1K is right about the audio between a MVS setup and a JAMMA setup.

Normally pins J and 10 on the JAMMA harness are used as Audio+ and Audio- as a part of a mono configuration.

MVS however, uses J and 10 as both the Positive output for audio, instead as Left+ and Right+ for a stereo configuration that wouldn't require another cable harness like some Konami boards did. The Negative polarity of the audio is handled by the common ground so you could connect it to the power supply's DC ground, or pins A, B, E, F, 1, 2, 27, and 28 of the connector.

They both still use 8 ohm speakers though.

Wait, I thought you could use a single slot neo board in a jamma cab as long as you switch the audio to mono. Isn't that why they have the mono/stereo switch on the PCB?

PS what a sick score. I have been on the hunt for one of these for a very long time. They are just adorable. I can't wait to see the finished product.

The single slot neo geo boards were jamma compatable(well with the extra button wired in). The multi slot ones are the ones that didn't use the jamma wiring.

Well i have tried alot of things to get the sound up and running correctly with no luck. So I'm just going to re-wire the entire cabinet with an existing SF2CE jamma harness I have, that way it all runs the way it should. I'll post some pics after I get the art and buttons/joys for the control panel.
Thanks
Chris

Finished up the control panel today, turned out fantastic, and got a new PCB. I'm waiting for the full cabinet jamma harness to make sure i don't burn up this pcb.
