Is there a website that has typical ranges of pricing for MVS Neo Geo cartridges? Please email me directly at [email protected] if you can.

Thanks,

Vic S. (in CT)

eBay's completed auctions will give you a realistic range of what people are paying.

Yeah, the NEO price guide tends to reflect the N-G gamers & collectors side of the market. KLOV prices tend to reflect the OPs & cabbies side of the market. And eBay tends to reflect whomever is trying to sell NEO stuff. So, these sites ought to give you a ballpark idea of what your game is going for.

Keep in mind

Because of the neo multi carts, the prices have really dropped on these.. People still buy carts that are in their original boxes with paperwork/art.. Loose carts are tough, unless they arent on the multi or are rare puzzle games..

Which is actually great if you're buying and in that middle group that enjoys owning the cartridges/not utilizing a multi, but aren't OCD collector enough to give a crap about having complete kits. Thank the arcade gods for ops and their mentality of just wiping their asses with everything in the kit but the cartridge and mini-marquee.

The Neo site is great, but the list hasn't been updated since 09. You have to understand they are a different breed and those prices reflect collector grade carts no scratches, matching numbers, artwork, boxes, etc.

I usually knock about 20% off of their low end pricing.

Just to add to your point, it also reflects non-bootleg carts on top of that. There are a ton of them out there that are difficult for non-hardcore Neo Geo collectors to spot (or just don't care). Ops in my area definitely didn't give two shits about running black market equipment during the late 80's to 90's era. I have the SF2: Rainbow Editions to prove it. :)

Is Soccer Brawl on any of the multis? Or Magician Lord? Those are probably my two favorite non-fighting neo games apart from the first Shock Troopers, which I know isn't on them.

The collector aspect at n-g.com dissapeared a few years back. Most people there have sold off their console games in favor of dirty scratched arcade route cartridges in a cab or for a supergun.

I can count all the members over there who still buy expensive console games on one hand.

MVS carts are the way to go for Neo Geo gaming, but Homecarts is still king when it comes to collecting. While most homecart owners are selling, there are many homecart collectors who has more money than sense.

Here are some examples
2008 $22K for Kizuna EncounterUS
2010 $55K for Kizuna EncounterUS($30K) and Super Sidekicks4US($25K)
2011 $4-11K for King OF 2000US
2011 $3-8K for Big Tournament Golf
2011 $20K for NeoGeo mat
2008 $4-6K for Metal Slug 1US

Yeah, that's 'cause SNK made like a BAZILLION MVS boards and carts., worldwide, for their ultra popular MVS cabs; however, SNK only made a few (comparably speaking) AES games, worldwide.

When the AES system first came out, it cost like $650.00 AND each AES game cost like $200.00+. SNK priced their AES gear SO HIGH in the console market that their AES stuff was never really mass produced--like NINTENDO was.

But, man, AES is bad ass. The AES boards and carts. have all the power and game play of a 1 Slot SNK JAMMA Arcade board and Arcade Cart. NO other console maker at the time was putting that kind of arcade power into their gaming system.

Heh, I remember going to Toys-R-Us to get my console. I was trying to get my parents to spend $1000.00 on an AES. and a couple of games. But, parents said: "NO, your getting a [$100.00] NINTENDO."
