A friend is giving me a single-slot Neo Geo cab. I haven't seen it yet, so I don't know if it's one of the mono or stereo single-slot boards.

Ignoring the electronics, do all Neo Geo cabs have two speakers in them or at least holes for two speakers, or did some of them only have one?

There will be a stereo/mono switch on the top of the PC board just behind where the jamma connector plugs in near the middle of the board. Of course, if the cabinet arrives with two active speakers working, then you will know that it is a stereo capable board without looking inside of the machine.

I'm specifically asking if the cabs were all routed for two speakers or not. If it turns out to be a mono board and wiring, I'd be tempted to get a stereo board and fix the wiring.

The cabs were wired for the boards.

If they were 1 slot JAMMA types then they had JAMMA wiring. If they were 2/4/6 slot boards then they were wired for MVS (stereo) which will damage JAMMA boards unless you use an adapter.

Not sure about the 2 cabs that had the 1 slot JAMMA/MVS switchable audio capabilities. You'll have to inspect the wiring harness to know for sure.

Honestly, I'm not sure on the cab parts. I would immagine that most dedicated single slots are.

I've only had conversion single slots, and my dedicated cabs were multiple slot cabs. They are wired stereo
