So, I finally got my 6 slot neo board, thanks to a member here. But I'm still out a PSU. Rather than wait forever until I have money again, I would like to wire up a computer power supply, since I have one just sitting around.

My questions is, how many watts will it take to run it? it's basically JUST to run the board. The monitor has it's own supply. I can't immagine it drawing too much.

appreciate any help I can get.

PC power supplies have much higher wattage than standard switching power supplies. Regular switching power supplies are around 110 watts on average and 150 watts on the high end.

You have to use an old school type power supply that doesn't have the orange 3.3v wires on it.

If you use one that has 3.3v outputs you'll need to put some resistors on the orange wires to meet minimum loading for it.

Switching power supplies tend to self destruct if they don't have a minimum load on them.
