Does any one have one of these? I just got 2 on eBay the other day off eBay. I should probably ask on an Neo Geo forum But that means signing up on another website and I'm lazy so I will give it a shot here first. I don't have any games yet got some on the way. I have been reading about different color screens when you turn it on without a cart to diagnose any problems with the system. I'm getting a weird bunch of multicolored squares when I turn the unit on anyone know what the hell that could mean?

That's normal on the MVS, at least for the first few seconds, I'm not sure if it's the same on AES.

Not sure if it is or not I ended up getting 2 in the auction cheap. It seems like the 2nd unit does what its suppose to when you turn it on without a cart. It goes to that multicolored square pattern screen then cycles through solid colors and stops on dark blue that seems to test fine. The nonworking one I got seems someone tried to socket the bios chip so I put a sock on it but several traces where damaged (not by me). I tested the wire connections with my multimeter and it seems that everything is now making contact with the bios socket but still no go.

Nice score! The AES is the only home system I don't have since the NES. Still need to pick one up someday.

I just got incredibly lucky or I still wouldn't have one LOL. I think the fear of Soldering is what got it for me most people are scared to work on old electronics or just don't know what to do. So their loss my gain now If I could just get the 2nd one working it would kick ass.

Actually found a picture online this is what the unit is doing. That and the screen seems to pulsate. Sometimes its just a black and white version of this screen.

The problem with AES is that the games are so ridiculously expensive and they're identical to the MVS games, which are a tenth of the price. You can get an MVS --> AES converter, but there are a few games it doesn't work with. I would recommend reselling it and if you want the console experience, just get a consolized MVS with the universe bios.

Funny how back in the day it was the other way around ;)

No doubt, I remember reading in my gaming magazines how the consoles were $600 and the games were $200 each. Now you can get the MVS version for most of those games for under $100.

Eh I already have an MVS unit in my collection with a 4 slot (currently under repair, bad battery and needs cleaning). It was a 2 slot changed the board out still have it so I could make a consolized MVS if I wanted. This is the collector in me I have been trying to collect all the major consoles (old ones). Plus I look at it as an extra accessory for the MVS unit since I can use the save card for both. The biggest complaint I have of the AES isn't the cost of games its the cheap ass ultra thin traces on the PCB. It is really hard not to damage them when doing any work on one. Besides I'm use to expensive games I freaking collect arcade games for a hobby LOL.

I'm sure I could build an adapter MVS to AES but I haven't found a reliable source of pinouts for the AES carts. I have some MVS pinouts but I'm not totally sure which one I have is correct.
