hi,
I just got a NEO GEO 4 slot. When I power it up, I get audio when it starts up, but no audio from the games when they play. How do I fix this? on a rare occasion I will get audio on one game, but not the others. However most of the time, start up, NEO GEO sound starts, then the game menu comes up, and nothing..... anyone please help?

I've also got a 120 In 1 MVS Cartridge which I just turned the system off, pulled one cartridge out, and put the 120 In 1 MVS Cartridge in, but the system doesn't recognize that I have a cartridge in the slot. do I need to set up the system, to tell it there is another game in the machine?

Sorry, I just got a NEO GEO, which I'm happy to have, I'm just having a bit of a learning curve :) thank you for your help :)

You may have to just reseat the 120 in 1. It just isn't always recognized the first time. Not sure about the sound. My 120 sounds terrible if all of the slots are full, but the sound is fine with at least one empty slot. I haven't had my MVS very long either, but they seem to be kinda finicky. You might try cleaning the contacts on the board and the cartridges. If they are dirty, there can be lots of issues, or so I've read.

Try removing the other games and just have the 120n1 installed. Try it in each slot and see if you get any different result.

As far as the sound goes, you may have bad caps in the audio section of the motherboard. They are know for having problems and cause strange sound issues.

Also, cleaning the slots is a good idea. At least try blowin them out with compressed air. After that I would try a tooth brush and alchohol. And make sure the connectors of the games you are playing are clean. You can clean them with alchohol soaked Q-Tips and rub them with a pencil eraser.

If the sound plays then stops you should clean the slots and the carts. It's a common problem on those old systems. Dust and years of gunk along with the cigarette smoke/tar/nicotine from the locations they were in need to be cleaned out of those slots.
