I have a 2 slot neo-geo board and was getting a Video Ram error. I replaced the ram and got the board to boot up and now the background and sprite graphics are missing. Didn't find any broken traces, any suggestions on troubleshooting / fixing this? :D

If you don't get a satisfactory answer here, try www.neo-geo.com 's forums. They're awesome over there in the tech section.

I assume every cart does the same thing? Have you tried different carts, yet?

Yeah I posted over at Neo-Geo.com. Haven't tried other carts as I only have the one. :D I bought the cart working to try the board out.

Then there's your next project. Use a different cart next to see what happens.

Hrmmm...

Last time I saw something like that it was a bad LSPC chip... It could still be a bad trace though.

Make sure all the JAMMA edge contacts, the cartridge contacts and the 2 PCBs of the Neo Geo are clean and making good contact. I had some strange behavior like this and it was just dirt.

Look at the writing on the custom chips. You'll see one with that on it.

Yeah I looked it up yesterday. I wouldn't even try messing with that. Do you replace those? That's a lot of small pins to solder.
