I have a Neo-Geo 2 slot that only displays a cross-hatch test pattern on slot 1 and a black screen on slot 2. Any ideas on what it could be?

I bought one from an op and got a video ram error so he gave me this board to try out and to keep if this one worked. Neither works! lol. If this fix isn't too hard I'd like to fix it so I can have a board and take him the other one back. If not I guess I could take him both back and see if he has more for me to try out. He can fix them I'm sure but if one of these is an easy fix then that would be better for me.

Clean the slots/cart... and make sure all the DIP switches are off.

Dirty carts/slot are the big problems when you get a crosshatch screen or screwy boot ups on a Neo Geo system with carts installed.

You may need to take the cart apart and clean it with a big pink pencil eraser.

Thanks man. Slot 1 doesn't work. I think it might be a cold solder joint or something. Slot 2 worked after clearing the ram and turning of all the dip switches.

It's common to have bad traces on the Neo Geo boards. Check the left half of the rear most slot for continuity between the slot and the various Neo chipset chips.

Also look top and bottom for gunk on the board (corrosion underneath?) or for scraped traces that might be cut.
