Just moved and have an actual shop to work on games. Wondering if people have some photos or ideas on a workbench. People just use tables or construct something? Anyone want to share what their shop looks like?

I used to work on a counter in my basement standing up the whole time, and not use to actually sitting down to work. Just curious to hear what people have to say.

I created a workbench years ago when working with stained glass. I find the lightbox section of the bench really useful when doing some artwork aligning tasks.

Love the light box idea. I am finally finishing the facelift on mine:

Still need to finish organizing tools and parts and then finishing the general clean-up, but it is so much better than where I started:

Nice work space. I almost picked up that same pneumatic stapler, but went with a Hitachi instead.

Once I get into a house I need to move this bad boy home from work (or get another one for home, maybe a size larger):

If you're ever in the market for a job box, storage chest, or rolling workbench from hell I strongly suggest the Knaack line btw. Awesome products.

Here are some options if you have a store near you. I chose the 60" bench.

The workbench in my garage consists of a row of old kitchen cabinets with a sheet of MDF on top. It doesn't look pretty, but they work great and have lots of drawers and stuff for storage.

Hi, being as I have just a small space in a spare bedroom for some of my games im working on and my little work bench i tried to maximize my space. I am still working on it, but here a few pictures Works okay for me. :)

If you wanted to look at it from a fine woodworking standpoint, a workbench is often the first major woodworking project. If you wanted to DIY something that's a work of art, plan on taking a year or 2 off from this hobby and you could build something like this (found on GIS):

I grabbed a solid birch door to use as a workbench. I left the hinges on it, mounted a 2x6 to my wall and put the door hinges into that. I put a roll-away toolbox under it to support it.

If I need extra space, I can pull out the roll-away and the work bench lays down flat against the wall on its hinges. I also bought 2 wide rolling racks to store stuff on... I can move them around (or even out of the garage for a while) to get extra space. Having a 1 car garage is kind of a pain in the ass. Need to use lots of tricks to make space.

I bought 3 professional workbenches off of Craigslist... all three are ESD safe. One came from a guy that bought it when Motorola was selling stuff off... the other 2 came from a place out west of the Metroplex that used to refurbish components for F16s.

I want this!
But the restorer in the family has a long Honey do list...
I may just have to add this...

I built I basic frame out of 2x4's and raided the local Habitat ReStore for an old solid core door ($7), some electrical outlets/wire/boxes, and some peg board. For around the price of a pre-cut bench, I have lit bench with electrical outlets. It took a lot more work and looks like crap, but I feel that it was worth it. As an added bonus I was able to set the height to where *I* feel is comfortable.

Thanks, guys. Some good ideas to think about.

ajcrm125--love your videos on pcb repairs and you explanations. I am in need of some more :).
