Ok, I know the topic of tube swapping is a common thread, but I found a few tv's tonight that I want to know the (probable) tube inside before buying a couple of them.

I am looking to swap out a burned WG4900. 19" monitor

TV type/models are:

Memorex MT1191A

Orion TV1926AW (screen is red, but I am sure that can be fixed)

Symphonic WF-1901

Sony KV19TS20

Please let me know if I can find out if any would be a good tube for swapping. I tried to find info but I could not figure out the most likely tube model and really don't want to buy them all.

Thanks.

I searched them all, and only found the Orion mentioned as having a tube that is good for large-necked tube swaps...

Cuz Orions kick ass :) Sorry I had too.

Just wanted to mention that Sony in most cases won't work - their tubes are cylindrical and as far as I know not compatible.

That particular Sony has a Trinitron tube according to the User Manual, so it might be flat, too...

Another Successful Tube Swap

Orions do rule... I just did my first tube swap this weekend and it was a breeze... I lucked out and found an Orion TV1925A on Craigslist for free... only searched for about a day and found an Orion... when the guy replied to me with the model number I was shocked that it matched.

Dropped it in without touching the yoke or purity rings... it was ultra bright and out of focus... dialed in the black level control and the image was perfect.

Thanks to everyone who posted their work... and thanks to Jeff ant Junknet for building the donor tube list.

Found an Orion 1925A for free tonight as well!

Gonna try and throw it in my Tron this weekend.

Cross your fingers......

more info...

I was swapping it into a WG K46XX... Like I said... it was a piece of cake... I had never done one before and was a bit nervous.

All I did was lay the monitor on its face (on a peice of cardboard to protect), disconnected all the wires and neckboard, unbolted the 4 screws that attach it to the frame. Lifted off the chassis, dropped onto the stripped down Orion tube, bolted it back up. Cut the connectors off the old tube, spliced them to the new tube. Connected everything back up.

Turned it on and the image was too bright and out of focus... couldn't get either back in check until I turned the black level (VR201) on the Video Interface Board. Once I did that I was able to get it to focus and tune the colors in.

Oh... I also had to flip the image by swapping a pair of wires on the yoke. See this article for help.

Hope this helps...
Good luck, I think you'll be pleasantly surprized...
