need to rebuild corners on a cabinet. Rookie Alert!

need help rebuilding corners on a cabinet. What type bond do I use? How do I get bond straight? Any suggest are appreciated.

Thanks.

You can use bondo that they use for cars, available at any car supply store. The best way I have found to fix corners is to use a triangular piece of metal that you can find at Lowes or Home Depot. They should be in the hardware section. They look similar to the item in the link.

You could make something, but these are easy and fast. Just tape them in place and fill them with bondo, them remove and sand. You will have to put a slot in for T-molding. One thing that I haven't tried before is inserting the T-molding first and then putting the bondo in. I would pull the T-molding out before the bondo sets up completely. Bondo can be shaped with file as well.

Bondo shouldn't be used for structure, just for fill. If your corner is completely gone, I'd recommend replacing it with a piece of wood then using bondo to smooth.

Put some pictures up of the damaged corners so we can see what you are dealing with.

Good call. If it is just cosmetic damage then just bondo and sand. If there are large pieces missing then you should use a jigsaw to make a (sort of) straight cut and then replace the entire area. Use bondo to fill in the gaps and then sand. Depends on your access to tools too - if the opposite corner is in good condition I'd actually use a pattern bit and my router to make an exact copy instead of trying to sand to match.

Depending in how big, bad the corner is, you can use nails to make a mesh/matrix for the bondo adhere to. Tap them into good wood. Lay the cab on its back, use a piece plexi or the sort to make forms. I use tape to hold the plexi form into place. Drip the bondo into the form. When its dry, pop the plexi off. The bondo dont stick to it. I use a belt sander to rough form then use a glaze coat for final.
