This is a cakewalk (I hope) for someone with a Centipede game.

I picked one up the other night, and I see the scan lines zipping up and going left to right across the screen. The only odd thing I see so far on the game is an extra wire that's not attached... Or grounded???

On the wiring harness, there are 3 wires that are zip tied (from the factory) together. 2 of them are the power wires that attach to the Wells Gardner monitor. The other is just sitting loose and unattached.

So, if you've got the back open you may be able to tell me where this 3rs wire goes that's running with the 2 power wires.

It's probably a grounding strap for the monitor. You could just screw it somewhere to the metal monitor chassis.

What you're describing sounds like retrace lines. Try turning down the brightness a bit for starters.

I THOUGHT it may be a ground strap, but I really wasn't sure and hate to randomly connect wires. I'll ground it (maybe I'll check for ground w/a multimeter), and that may quiet the noise on the scan lines.

Thanks

Well hot dog. I attached the ground wire to the monitor chassis, AND more importantly turned down the brightness as per your recommendation. VOILA! Scan lines have stopped. Thanks Much! I'd have only looked into a grounding issue, not the brightness of the screen.
