Game was working fine, no movement/power outages or anything out of the ordinary. Then last night the screen froze as it was booting up, and turned it off and tried to reboot and now no picture.

The monitor has power, there are LED's on the power supply that indicate it has power to it.

For those who don't know what this game is: It is a two gun vampire shooter like house of the dead. It is by Namco and appears to have a computer set up inside (not mame, it has a CD in a drive and it appears to be something like a sony playstaion as the same memory card is inserted as well.

Please post any questions or any ideas. There was a coin battery on the board inside the "computer" case and I replaced this. Still no change.

Thank you.

Some interesting stuff

OK, this game uses a thing called "magicgate" which I guess is similar to the guts of a playstation 2.

It has the same slots for a memory card and eventhe controllers and I switched the memory card from one slot to the other and an "alarm" went off. I switched it backe and the game started to boot up, but gets stuck on "Now loading" It only starts to boot up when I switch the card over and then back.

Any ideas?

how do you know if it was reboot?

anyway, you can notice if it rebooted, if there is a change in the monitor.

another test to sure that it booted up, turn it off first, then plug off the memory card (remember the place as you'll have to reinsert in the same socket), then turn it back on. you should heard something like alarm sound comes out. if not, then the board is likely broken.

now, if it booted okay, another possible problem is the dvd or cd drive (i don't really remember which one) is bad. replace them with the good one and try it again.

hope this tricks help.
