Need some USB help!!!!!

It runs android OS. So there may be a script you could run at boot to disable all ports then enable them in the order you need them. I don't know for sure if you could do that but that is where I would start. At the OS/device level.

Now I am Super curious about the PC / Hardware your using to run this game... also what Software is on it? The Game itself is it the PC version or.....?

PC - Generic store bought parts. I'd say its a mid range gaming rig by some standards. New Intel i5 somthing or other, GTX960, m.2 drive 8 gigs o RAM 800 watt power supply.

OS - Win10 (some are suggesting that its Win10 that wont keep the device order where Win7 would have).

Software came from Steam so PC version of the game.

Or.... you could hard-wire unused inputs on the boards and use them as DIP switches to identify which board is which, and have the game itself redo the mapping.

Yeah, kinda.

Some of the unused inputs are actually used at board power up to change its "mode."

Currently they are all in Xbox One mode. If you press and hold one of the buttons on the control panel (the Y button) the board will go into Xbox360 mode.

I plan on using timer controlled relays to delay power up of each device starting with the left side (player one) and finishing on the right side (player 4).

I'm sure you, Mark, could design something a hell of a lot more elegant but I know very little about design. If a wrenching kinda person.

Maybe on the next one. New PC Gauntlet 4 player??? :)

I was reading up on the Brooks universal board... some questions.

Are you using one board or 4?
Have you updated the firmware? It was just updated on their site this month.

This might be a question their support team will know? Maybe you aren't the 1st to come across this?

4 boards, one for each player. Firmware updated and they told me they have no way of helping me (already asked them 3 days ago).

A device like the u-hid might be better, lets you assign an id to each one, plus with 50 pins you might not need more than 1 device

Request a refund and kindly explain that your situation is not unusual and that they may want to program some ID functions into future releases of this hardware.
Then Go Buy "Programmable" U-Hid devices (Then never look back as your having to much fun playing)

this thing let my shop today. I'll try a u-hid device (after I figure out what that is :) ) on the next one.

LOL Universal Human interface Device .

Just a Generic term for a USB i/o device.

I would try a mini-pac or maybe one of the "better" User programmable Encoders. I would maybe Shy away from the "Generic USB Joystick" devices that are seen as a Joystick not a Keyboard ect...

The Mini-pac is user configurable and you can set Specific addresses for each device. (With software) Or better yet you can find one of the 4 player versions so you have only 1 board. There are SO many options out there. Just kind of shitty you got sorta burned on the first one you tried.

Hahaha. DOH!

FWIW, my xboxOne and Xbox360 remote behaved in the exact same way.
