New to the hobby and I'm building my first jamma rig. However, I have a couple of questions regarding the wiring:

1. I was given (for free) a CGA/EGA to VGA converter. The pinout on said converter is shown in the first picture; consists of two grounds, video sync, HS, S, blue, green, red. The cable that came with it (second pic) has wires for each of those. However, when I look at the video wires on my jamma harness (third pic), I only have one ground, video sync, blue, green, red. My question is what is HS and S on the converter board? Can I just ignore them? Why doesn't my jamma harness have wires that match up with them? My jamma harness is full except for the usual blank spots.

2. When daisy chaining the grounds on the controls, where do those ground wire(s) go after they've connected to all the buttons? In other words, I know the control ground ends at one of the buttons, but where is the other end? I know there are two grounds at the end of the jamma harness in the area of the controller wires; does one of those grounds go to player 1's control set and the other to player 2's? I thought all the grounds go back to the power supply from the jamma harness.

Thanks in advance.

VS - Vertical Sync (not Video Sync)
HS - Horizontal Sync
S - Composite Sync (which is what JAMMA uses)

So your JAMMA harness will have 5 wires for the video connection....
Ground, Red, Green, Blue, and Composite Sync

Your control ground can go back to any of the ground wires on your JAMMA harness.
There are plenty of them, so splitting the player 1 and 2 grounds is fine like you described. (I actually prefer doing it that way) Player 1 to one ground wire, Player 2 to a different ground wire.

Ok. Just to clarify (I'm learning as I go here), does that mean the only wires I have to worry about splicing/connecting are the video ground, R, G, B, and Composite? I can forget about the extra wire coming out of the adapter board? The little piece of paper that came with the jamma harness called it "video sync"; I guess that's a mistake/typo on their part?

Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it. Would like to try to get this done as a weekend project.

Anybody?

Just curious about the extra wires. Anyone offer a little further info please? Lot of the Jamma rig FAQ's don't seem to cover that.
