I have a G07 in a Spy Hunter. I have sync problems. This seems to be a common problem, especially with SH's. I have read up on previous posts, and that has helped. I still have sync issues however. The mon seems to respond in an unstable manner when I adjust the Horiz Freq pot. It's very sensitive to small movements to the pot. Also, adjusting the Vert Hold will make the screen scroll horizontally - is that normal? I checked the voltage coming into the monitor from the Iso and it read 118.3/118.4. I guess that's okay. I measured the voltage just into the chassis at R01 and it came up 260. I guess that is pretty F'ed up. I went to adjust the voltage at R909, but then I realized the pot had a bunch of white crap jammed into it and protruding out of it. I kinda looks like thermal paste or white putty or some such thing. It was still pliable and I could scrape it off to some degree, if I needed to. I just wanted to ask here if anyone has heard of such a thing. Why gum up a pot with this putty? To prevent someone from mucking with it is the only reason I can think of, but I am a noob at this stuff. ANy help will be appreciated.

Are you sure you measured the voltage correctly? Black lead to frame, red to the lead closest to you on that resistor. B+ is measured on the lead farthest from you. If there's 120VAC going in, there shouldn't be 260VDC on the other side.

When was the monitor last capped?

James, that white stuff was put on there to deter people from adjusting that pot. Sometimes a red varnish is also used. You dont usually see it on the GO7, someone probably put it on there.
As far as your problem, make sure your sync connections are right.

You are right, I metered the voltage wrong - meter must have been set to AC, not DC - DOH!. When I metered it right, it came up at 116. Is that too far away from 120? The chassis has new caps.

I will do what Riptor suggests and recheck the connections. I am pretty sure everything from the SH PCB is going to where it needs to be on the go7. However, the video harness has been hacked, and the previous owner of this machine used quick connects to attach the original harness to another harness. They had the sync's going into the 6 pin molex connecter, so I had to break those out so that I could connect the syncs to the 3 pin connector on the go7. Could bad crimps be causing this problem?
