I got a High Speed about 2 months ago. Got her all cleaned up and running 100 percent. The only thing that's bugging me is about half of the inserts decals (or actual insert paint) are in pretty bad shape. The playfield is in great shape and has almost no wear and there is no mylar on the playfield except for two small pieces where the ball drops from the wire habitrails. My thoughts were to get a set of insert decals, remove and replace old decals, remove the small mylar pieces and put new mylar over the playfield. So my question is does this sound like a good idea? I've read alot of posts of people wanting to remove the mylar from there machines, but with putting on insert decals I thought this would keep them from rubbing off again and hopefully make for a nice smooth surface. Also are there any good ways of removing the old insert paint / decals completely (hopefully without haveing to remove the inserts) before applying new ones? Thanks in advance for all your expert advice.

Removing mylar really sucks, if you have never done it you might want to think twice or have someone help that has done it before.
*edit - duh, I thought you were removing mylar, my bad, ignore my posting ;)

adding the mylar is up to you. why people remove it is it may bubble or because the edges are peeling up,or it yellowed out.i have mylar on my getaway.i love its,the playing field show no wear.my guess by the time it starts to peel i will have sold the machine or im dead and long gone.as for removing the painted inserts once i have used a razor blade like a scraping auction you see the inserts are kinda ruff to begin with.you may also try laquer thinner and try one at a time but be very careful since i believe the hole playing field is done in laguer paint and you dont want to mess the painted part of it.well good luck.
