Hey guys,

Is it possible that someone out there has a Sega Afterburner control stick pot gear? It's the one that controls the up/down or left/right on the stick assembly. It's about an inch high, has 20 sprockets, and fits snuggly over the pot that controls the plane's movement.

I have spent hours and hours trying to resurrect this 1987 machine and find it almost working except for that ONE GEAR. I have almost every piece except that one.

I've attached a picture here.

Thank you so much. The knowledgeable people here have been very helpful in the past! You guys are the best, and I hope you can help me.

Oh, and if you don't have one, is it possible that somewhere on the web I could order this piece? I've searched and am clueless.

I have the full control panel. The stick is busted but I 'll see what's intact underneath the panel.

Dude! That would be so great if you had one of those gears! I'm also having issues with the shaker motor, but haven't really gotten into that one yet. If I find yours works and mine doesn't, that may be another deal I can do.

The gear I need is the one that goes directly on the potentiometers. There are two of them, one for up/down and one for right/left. It's made of brass and should have two little black screws sticking out of it.

Thanks again for looking! :)

I'd buy a used one as long as it comes with the two little mounting screws! Let me know what you'd charge. :)

As far a loose gears go, I have these Sega 20 tooth gears. The mounting hole is made to fit over the flat on shaft.

I do have complete NOS flight assemblies that have the correct gears....

Awesome! You're the Sega expert, so do you think that gray gear will work for my purposes? Did you hold it up to the full stick assembly and see if it's roughly the same size/shape/length, etc. I hate to use the wrong part, but if it's close, I may be able to make it work!

I'll private message the other user too to see if he has the original part. If he does, that's optimal. That way I will know it works. Otherwise, I'll probably take that Sega gray gear off your hands.

Thanks sooooo much!!!!! I'll be in touch!

Thanks for the pic, Mylstar! Attention all ye wise and glorious KLOVers! This is the gear I need! Maybe you just have it in a box or under a pile of junk or something. :)

Sent you a PM about the gray gears. My only concern is if they will actually work in my flight assembly. I'm hoping they're the same size.

If not, I may just have to get someone to make me one.

Oh, and when I buy them I'm going to need the little set screws (mounting screws) as well. Do you have those?

Thanks to Mylstar, the problem is soon to be solved!

I have always had great help from this group of guys here at KLOV. ROCKIN!
