I've got a PP7-A on my bench that has smoked a resistor. I have a parts breakdown, but I can't tell from that what the value of this ressistor is. Does anyone have a copy of the schematics of this power supply?

Perfect, thanks Ken. Looks like my donation to your internet access just paid for itself. :)

Page 49 also has a nice troubleshooting flowchart, too. I'll be making use of that.

I'm at the step where I check the fuse and R1. The fuse was blown, so I replaced it, and then R1 smoked. So that's where I am. The schematic shows R1 as '5W22' What type of resistor is this? I'm assuming it's a 5 watt 22 ohm resistor, would that be correct?

Looks like this is the resistor I need.

I believe I have some sand resistors laying around from my pin repairs. Any reason why I can't use one of these?

A 5 watt 22 ohm resistor comes in several physical sizes/styles, but electrically are all the same. If the one you have will fit, use it.

Replaced the fuse and R1, according to the troubleshooting flowchart for the pp-7B. Plugging in the power supply smokes the new resistor immediately. The fuse remains OK.

According to the troubleshooting chart on page 49 of the pdf that ken posted, I believe it says "remove SCR2 check volt. within limits"

Since this troubleshooting chart is for the PP-7B, how much of it can I use for the PP-7A?
