Need recommendation: What is the best wire stripper?

What is the best wire stripper?

I would like something that doesn't break and can strip small gauge wires up to household power cord gauge. Thanks!

I have two sets of ~$25 Klein small gauge stippers, one is yellow handled and one is blue handled. They are WAY better than those crappy $5 cheapo strippers. I have thrown away more than $25 worth of the cheapos. The Kleins cut better, strip better, open close very smoothely, etc.

I have a yellow handle Klein that has served me well. Pretty sure they still are well under $20.00

The cheap ones are annoying at best. How bout "automatic" strippers, are any of those worth beans? I have had a couple cheapos that were more like wire breakers than strippers.

I have a green-handled scissor-type that I like very much. Very compact and makes a clean strip every time. I think it's GB-branded.

Really, everyone has a preference on this. Play with other people's tools until you find something that feels "right", then go buy something similar.

I tried that in College, but I swear it was just a phase I was going through.

(Sorry, couldn't resist.)

A regular lighter works for small gauge wire. Just light it about where you want your wire stripped, wait a few seconds, and then pull of the plastic sleeve. Works great.
