Need pic of BLACK PYRAMID playfield, playing with waterslide decals

Hey folks,i am in need of a straight down pic of this section of playfield. It will save me many hours photo shopping this one.My goal here is to print a decal consisting of everything inside the blue lined triangular area.from the moving target down. The plan is to print this off and stick it on the playfield, then using a brush, blend the edges in so it is not so obvious. Then finally clearcoat it.

Not my pics, but they might be enough to help:

Wish I could help with the image but I can not.

I'm anxious to hear how this goes as I am tryig the same with a Cleopatra... keep us posted.

VB,

Thanks mod,i think the first picture will work for me.It's not quite a straight down shot, but it looks close enough that the dimensions shouldn't be affected too badly.

VB,

I'll post here as i make progress,i really think this will work well. The waterslide decals are thinner than mylar,i'm kind of hoping the clear coat just makes them disapear as if they are not even there.Fading the shiny new colors to the old painted colors should help to make it less noticable.I am curious as printers don't print white,i am going to color all the inserts white in hopes they will remain see through.Sizing the photo for printing to me is the hardest part of all this. The only way i know to resize is through paint.I'll keep ya posted.

You are definitely going to need something better than MS Paint :)

Gimp is a good and free photo editing program as an example.

Thanks for the pics robran,i think the first one will be perfect.Metahugh,i will try that gimp program out.All i have ever used is ms paint, and yes it is very limited.
Wish me luck,i hope to have playfield prepped and stickers printed this weekend.

I would say you won't get the results you want with MS Paint, obviously. I've tried GIMP, but it just doesn't even come close to Photoshop. A clunky attempt at copying PS IMO. Unfortunately, you're going to get the best results from Adobe, but most people cannot drop that kind of $$$ on one program.

I recommend you go to the Adobe website and download a 30 day trial of Photoshop. It's easy to get, you'll have a whole month to finish your graphic editing, and it's the best. Just uninstall the trial once it expires.

You do need a pretty decent machine to run it well though. There are websites where you can get older version trials that would run better if your computer is older.

Just my 2 cents. I personally would use the best option to get it right the first time.

I agree with you 100%, never thought of the trial option.

Photoshop is the best tool period.

That was some good reading, thank you.I am torn between getting the appropriate software and making this image look like new,or doing minimal cleanup so it doesn't stand out and draw attention to itself.I have already cleaned the playfield and it looks good, aged, but good.So to throw an 8x11 section that is flawless on there may look bad.I know the clear coat will wake up the rest of the playfield, but will it be enough.I have done touch ups on my other playfields and have feathered the new paint as far as i could off onto the old paint. This will be interesting for sure.

I could probably take a couple more pix if that one is a little dark and maybe even clean the mylar a little.

Lemme know...

No need for more pics,i do believe the first pic you submitted with no flash will work just fine.It shouldn't take much work at all to have it looking good.Thank you for the offer.

If it was me, I'd take measurements of my actual playfield, then trace it all in Illustrator, adjusting for the perspective using my size measurements. You'd most likely get the best possible result...

Wow mod, that went right over my head. This project is going to take longer than anticipated as my newborn is affecting my ability to fully concentrate on what i'm doing.I have a demo of photoshop downloaded and holy cow does it do alot,it will take a few days to get the hang of it.Illustrator huh...may have to check it out.I want to be very sure it is top notch before any clear goes on.

Crap..this link worked the other day.Now it is a dud, maybe tomorrow it will be back up.My perspective is way off.Way more off than when i started lol.I have beeing using mostly gimp, but have bounced between paint which is familiar to me,gimp and photoshop.I have got to settle on one as everytime i save it and open it with a different one it seems my quality is degrading. My new goal, have this done by xmas lol.

I need to scan some artwork soon for some games I have. I might be able to give you an actual scan of that part of the playfield if I can borrow one of these HP portable scanners at work. Stay tuned......

That would be cool,i was tossing around flipping a flatbed scanner upside down and seeing what happens lol.In the meantime i will keep playing with this software, mostly gimp as photoshop trial will expire.
