I recently bought a Pac-Man cabaret game. The monitor picture had a red horizontal line near the top of the screen, which seemed like a problem with the PCB. I put a Jr. Pac-Man PCB in it and it played normally for about a month, until suddenly, the characters looked like they were cut in half, due to several black, horizontal bars going through the screen. However, the maze, dots and writing were all normal; only the characters looked weird. I have no idea which chips or ROMs failed to cause these problems.
I checked the fuses today and one of the 1 amp fuses was blown. Could a blown fuse have caused the PCB problems, or would a PCB chip that failed cause a fuse to blow? Or could there be something else wrong with the game that caused the PCB failures? Or could these just be two bad PCBs? I am scared to put another PCB in it because I don't want chips or ROMs to fail because there is something wrong with the game.
Thanks.
