Ok...picked up this Qbert bootleg conversion with some other games. Here is what I know...

1) Board works (plays blind)
2) Have cap kit and flyback repair kit for the monitor
3) Wiring harness is hacked all over
4) Most wiring to coin door is cut
5) Original Taito power supply is bad (game had a switching supply already, but it is bad as well)

I am not sure what Taito game this was originally (would be interested if anyone has a guess).

I have already built up a new AC and DC power supply for the game. Of course, it does not have the 6.3v circuit for the marquee lights.

Since the DC harness is in such bad shape, am I committing sacrilege by just trashing most of the original Taito wiring and starting over? I feel I can keep the ground loop and the switch/interlock circuit. I recapped my first two monitors this weekend and they actually worked (DKjr and Super Pac), so I think I can handle the challenge and it would be a great experience...

Also, is it sacrilege to pull the 6.3v circuit for the marquee and replace with a standard florescent?

Just need some thoughts. Will post pics over the next few entries.

Thanks -

-Scott

Flip Flops in November?

I am in about the same boat as you. I have several boards and need a supply that can deliver a diverse set of voltages and current.

I think my Galaxian wants 7vac and 10vac and the Dig Dug wants 10.6 vdc and 36vac as well as the +5.

I am looking into my own power supply that will do all or most all of the voltages needed for the boards.

The galaxian can run with a switcher as long as you wire the adapter as the dc diagram here http://www.mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/spies.cgi?action=url&type=pinout&page=Pac.html
