have played around long enough with the local arcade people, and cant seem to get a working monitor for my Cruisn USA. I currently have a cga vga adaptor in it running a 19 inch lcd computer screen. It looks great, but I want the correct size, 25 inch. Cruisn USA requires a Med Res, unless i use my adaptor, then i can run a high res. anybody in driving distance, 100 miles or so, got one, a medium or a high res 25 inch monitor? I might even buy a whole game just to get one. New ones are over 400, and i would rather spend 5-600 and get a whole game with one in it.......help!!!

just to explain a little better, i would buy a game with a 25 med or high res monitor, take that monitor and put it into my Cruisn, then use the 19 lcd and adaptor i have in that game. I really want a 25 in the Cruisn because im getting a second one, and it has the original 25 inch monitor, and i want them to match

I know I may be shot on here for this, but just go LCD. I have 6 25 inch monitors and they all need work. Actually 7. The WG's suck big time. Flyback and cap kits, bah.

im actually ok with that, i just can find a lcd that is 25 inch square. Once they get that big, they are widescreen, and they are over 300 bucks, might as well buy a new arcade monitor for that much. It just sucks cause this Cruisn is by far the best one I have ever seen. it is almost perfect looking.

Im gonna look at the pawn shop for a big computer lcd, but probably wont find one big enough.

Pick up a 25" TV cheap off of craigslist or a thrift store. Pull the tube and find a frame to mount it to. Then order a universal chassis from AlvaAmusement, and specify that you need it to work as EGA (you'll have to count the neck pins and measure the yoke on the TV for when you order). When the new chassis comes, change the yoke connector (if necessary) and the power connector (to match what your cab has). Plug in your video, adjust the picture, and you're done...

or hunt around that area for a sega game from the 90s, virtua fighter, etc. they came with nanao dual res 25 inchers in them

NO! I want to slap you with a rolled up newspaper right now. Why ruin one game to get another working?

EDIT: @Doodlesdaddy: Be patient. What you need will show up eventually. No need to tear apart games to get what you want. There are even plenty of chassis on Ebay right now that would work for you.

i have no tube or anything anymore. Left it at the arcade monitor fixers shop, dont want to go back, it was beyond anyway, cracked neck. Ive been looking around here for months, there is nothing, ive even contacted a few arcade shops out of town, no luck. its rediculous

well, assuming they have it in stock, i think im gonna get a Viewsonic 27 monitor at Office Max today, and install it tonight. I might have to modify the bezel, or make a new one, ill see. The dimensions appear to be pretty close to the standard 4:3 25 incher. Hopefully it will turn on automatically, like the little 19 incher i have sitting in it now. Ill post pictures if it all works out according to my evil plan

i doubt it, since the LCD won't sync to the EGA signal without an EGA to VGA adapter...

I fix those things for cheaper than you can buy most LCDs in that size, I think. $50 + parts + shipping for K7000/K7400/K7500/U2000/U5000's. The last one I got paid for had quite a few parts bad (but a good flyback) and cost about $86 total with the shipping...

I have the adaptor, like I said, I have been runming a 19 inch lcd computer monitor in it for awhile. I didnt get a chance to get to Office Max today to get the Viewsonic 27, so i will get it on tuesday unless for some crazy reason one of the local arcade suppliers happens to come up with a used one. Seems like they only want to sell me a brand new lcd with a markup. I would love to keep am original crt monitor in it, its just to expensive to buy and ship.

If you went with the TV and universal chassis option, you may have an original working CRT for under $100 total. Can't recall the price of the chassis...

I think I was seeing the universal chassis' for 150 or so, but it seemed beyond my abilities to put that together with a random tube off Craigslist. I would end up buying the wrong type of tv or somethin. I also left the original mounting brackets at the tv shop anyway, so i will be fabricating mounts anyway.
I like the picture on the 19 lcd, seems better then the original 25 med res anyway.

Now when I get a second Cruisn, ill probably end up putting an lcd in it to match, then end up with a working 25 med res, which I will have been hunting for months!!! Oh, the irony

Well, was going to go get the 27 inch lcd computer monitor, and decided to take obe last looksee around online for a real arcade monitor. Found a nice 27 inch crt arcade monitor on Ebay, from a Golden Tee Live!! Its VGA res, but I can still use my ega-vga converter to upconvert the Cruisn med res signal to vga high res to display on it(I hope!). Bought and paid for with shipping, three hundred dollars. Prolly bout the same price as an lcd computer monitor, but authentic, wo thats better I suppose. Hopefully it makes it through the mail, but the seller had perfect feedback, and over 4 thousand points. I feel confident about it. Jy Cruisn had a 25 monitor, but I think all it will need is a little trimming to the bezel maybe. Ive probably seen fifty Cruisns, and this is by far the best looking one Ive ever come across, side art is just about perfect, all the rest is black which I already restored with black appliance paint. it looks great.
Now, to find another one to link!!!
I will post a pic of this one once I get the monitor installed and up running

HOLD THE PHONE. A 27" 4:3 LCD? Where? I want one, NOW.

It a widescreen, but if you look at the dimensions on their website, its pretty close to the 4:3 25 incher, close enough to work, either way, im now getting a 27 inch 4:3 arcade monitor, so ill never know how well that Viewsonic would work, but comparing dimensions, it is very close

Yeah... it's not the same thing. The viewable area is still 16:9 and it'd be all stretched out and ugly.

Good luck with it. I think I would've just shelled out the extra $100 and got the right thing in the right size and not have to screw with adjusting things. It's kind of like the guy who drives 5 miles out of the way to save $.04/gallon on gas...

Well, figures

Got the monitor UPS. Box looked fine, flimsy, but fine. Hooked up the monitor, its a WG D9200, synced in fine, but picture was crooked, and colors were way off. Then found the collar on the yoke? to be basically broken free, I turned it and it straighted the picture, but the colors are way off. The remote adjustment board has a broke stuck down button as well. That collar thing is cracked in a few places, and some of the copper windings? appear messed up. Great, this saga will never end.
I emailed the seller, waiting for a response.
Is that the kind of thing that can be just replaced? or is there more to it, hence over my head? Ive taken neck boards off, but I just know nothing about this part.
