I would like to replace my monitor (full size, 19") with a new(er) one.

I know Trons can be a pain with new monitors, but I was wondering if that still was the case if you are replacing the MCR power suply/board with a switcher PS and the filter board (from Arcadegameshop).

Are there any new(er) monitors that will work?

Thanks for any help.

Go7

It probably a Go7 or a 4900. Rebuilt chassis are very plentyful. Or have some one rebuild yours. They last longer rebuilt usually than the new ones also. 2 different yokes on the 4900s BTW.

as far as your question, i would recap it assuming it doesn't have screen burn. having or not having the arcade shop mcr adapter won't make a difference, all that's doing is powering the boardset.

if your monitor has a little mcp cone burn in like mine does, i'd still probably rebuild. you probably aren't going to get a new monitor under $200, unless you go with a nice used one, and even then, possibly not, and the g07 or more likely 4900 you have in there will last a lot longer.

lastly, if you're concerned/timid about capping it, it really isn't bad. and if you really prefer to have someone else do it, look for someone on here in your area. i'm sure someone's willing to lend a hand.

Okay, you convinced me.

The monitor is a WG 4900. There is a pretty decent MCP burn in the center, so I was hoping to find a monitor with less that would sync.

I am ordering the cap kit today. I figure it is easier to try it first, and maybe get a replacement later on.

It will be my first, but I hear they are not that difficult and I do have pretty decent soldering skills and allthe tools needed.

I will keep you posted.

Thanks for all the input.
