Hey folks,

I have an MK4 here on the bench and it has some burnt components around the video output section. I've already IDed the caps that were toasted, but not the SMT component on the video ground.

Does anyone have this board and can you post a clear close-up pic of the Video Ground connection area around the JAMMA edge connector?

It looks like a zero ohm resistor (and I know that will work) but I want to be 100% sure since this repair is for a retailer and I want the board to look very clean on the repair.

Thanks,

Raymond

If no one else gets to it, Ill pull my board out when i get to work. Unfortunately that wont be until after 4 pm cst.

Sorry i took so long dude. We had some major issues at work with leaks. Stupid flat roofs... And this whack winter where the snow melts immediately. I hope these are what youre looking for.

Thanks!

It's a zero ohm resistor... I can just make out the 000 writing on it. :D

I think I may get a low amperage fuse to put on it so it won't flame up and burn things around it again.

yeah, I don't even know what you're talking about, but if you were able to make it out from my cell phone camera, then kick ass!

that was the first time I took the pictures from my phone, posted them to facebook, and copy/pasted them on here and used the img tags ... all from the phone. it's amazing when you learn how to use the copy function on there!

I appreciate you taking the time to post the pics! The board is now fixed.

Replaced a bad 0 ohm surface mount resistor in the Video Ground circuit. Replaced a bad surface mount cap in the Sync Output and Blue Output circuits. Replaced a bad 33 ohm resistor in the Blue Output circuit. Board powered up but had no sync. Replaced a bad surface mount 7407 IC in the Sync Output circuit and tested the board.

You sir are a beast.

Did you happen to see the threads lately about various T-unit and Wolf-unit boards with the bad CMOS U49s? Ever fixed that?

I have... and I have not.

Anyone have one they want to send me as a low priority project?

I'd donate you one, but mine all work. I don't know if you saw it, but back a few months I had that Smash TV with the graphical glitches, and you told me to check rom socket continuity... I wound up using that to diagnose a single board MK2 and found a dead pin on one of the sockets that was causing 2 roms to show bad... a little jumper wire and I resurrected that board for $10!

now I'm just without a matching sound board for it to sell it off. heh

Got a pic of the sound board?

I suppose the easiest way to identify it is it has 6 roms in a row. unlike the Y-unit/NBA Jam ones it only has a single header for the power/speakers, and it doesn't need a volume pot.

fixed that for ya :)
